Hello church,

As we move through this Christmas week, with snow continuing to blanket our community, I’ve found myself grateful for the quiet that this season brings. Winter has a way of slowing us down, inviting us to pause, reflect and listen more closely. My cell phone broke a couple of weeks ago when I dropped a mug on it(!) so it has been an especially quiet season for me, as I've navigated the modern world largely unplugged (it's been very difficult!).

Over the past several weeks, we’ve been spending time with the story of Jesus’ birth. It’s a story we hear year after year, yet it never lands exactly the same way twice. In some ways, it’s like poetry - its words remain the same, but each of us hears and receives them differently, shaped by our joys, struggles and hopes of years past. What speaks deeply to one person may gently rest with another, and that’s part of the beauty of it.

And yet, even as we receive the story in our own unique ways, we are not alone. We gather around the same story, the same hope, the same light that pierces the darkness of this world. Together, we are reminded that God meets us where we are and draws us into community, with Him and with one another.

I am thankful for you, and for the many ways you show care, generosity and faithfulness. Whether you are able to gather in person or are connecting more quietly from home, please know that you are valued and prayed for.

Merry Christmas,
Pastor Ben
